Education First International is pleased to
announce that on November 23rd and
24th, 2009 in Fujian Province, China,
INFOworks International Education, based in
Kitchener, Ontario successfully concluded steps
leading to the signing of Memoranda of
Understanding between Wilfrid Laurier University,
Waterloo, Ontario, Canada and Fuzhou University, Fujian Normal University, Fuzhou and Huaqiao University Xiamen Institute of Technology, Xiamen, Fujian Province, China..
Mr. Damaren is especially thankful to the Fujian Provincial Education Association for International Exchange and especially Mr. Typhoo Zhong and his staff for coordinating the meetings among the participants.
"I value my strategic partnership with the Fujian Provincial Education Association for International Exchange and remain grateful for their spirit of cooperation and eagerness to reach out to our Canadian educational institutions" said Mr. Damaren, as well as "their willingness to explore future opportunities for new and innovative pursuits."
On September 8, 2009, earlier memoranda were also facilitated and signed - creating affiliated schools status between Senior Middle High Schools in Fujian Province and Wilfrid Laurier University, as well "sister school" relationships between middle schools and two highly reputable private schools in Waterloo-Wellington, namely Rockway Mennonite Collegiate, Kitchener and St. John Kilmarnock, Breslau, Ontario.

organizations, one that will create a pathway for
Chinese students to pursue secondary and post
secondary education in the Waterloo Region" said
Peter Donahue, Director of Laurier International at
Wilfrid Laurier University, in Waterloo.
"Thanks to Mr. Damaren and Mr. Zhang partnerships with leading middle schools and universities in Xiamen and Fuzhou, Laurier is now positioned to bring students and faculty, to our campuses to contribute to the further internationalization of the teaching, learning and research experiences at Laurier".
Banquet Fujian Provincial
Education
During a special banquet on the evening of
November 24th - hosted by Dr. Yang Hui, Provincial
Vice-Minister of Education, Dr. Yang applauded the
efforts of all parties and their commitment "to
enhance the quality of education for students and
teachers in their respective jurisdictions, while
striving"to build long lasting and fruitful
relationships between our two provinces".
During his comments he offered his encouragement
and full support for similar initiatives in the
future, while especially encouraging additional
cooperation and collaboration in such areas
as:
- The sharing of educational pedagogical and
curricula intelligence;
- Summer School - Ontario University Exposure
Programs;
- Short-term international teacher practicum
placements in cooperation with university
faculties of education;
- Chinese Teachers ESL Training;
- School Principals Short-Term Study
Tours;
- Transitional studies, transfer credits
between high schools, 2 + 2 undergraduate studies,
- Offering Master and Doctoral level studies
opportunities for undergraduate students, etc.

LAURIER INTERNATIONAL was formally established
in 1994 to provide leadership, service and support
for the international activities of the Students
(Canadian and International), Faculty and Staff at
Wilfrid Laurier University.
Wilfrid Laurier University (Laurier) has
established an Office in Chongqing, China to serve
as a central support unit for its academic
initiatives in China (including Hong Kong and
Macau). The Office will enable Lauriers
students and faculty the opportunities to work
alongside top scholars from leading Chinese
Universities; strengthen the international elements
of Lauriers research and academic programs;
and enhance opportunities for collaborative
relationships with governments and the private
sector, both in Canada and in China.
